My work revolves around water, shaped by landscapes, movement and light. 

I try to capture the architecture of water, through the way that it dances, the way it reflects. I like how quickly scale and reality start to blur when you focus on textures, rather than objects.  I like the impermanence of capturing nature, in its different seasons, tides and lights. The same subject will never be seen twice, much like our own selves, constantly changing and flowing. The impermanence of photographing something you can’t control, only observe.

I tend to observe the world through patterns and light, looking at the way forms and shapes are repeated and tessellated and how light reveals and travels across our wai and ngahere.

I want to explore the idea that te taiao mirrors patterns in our biology, our skin, hair, eyes and that when we feel connected to places, it’s our biology recognising itself in the environment.
